Why apples
Shaped by hand and by fire. The glass leaves its own marks.
A tiny bubble, a lean to one side, a shift in colour where the gold leaf caught the heat. These are not flaws to hide. They are how each apple tells you it was made by a person and not a mould.
When the sun reaches the glass the colours move across the room and shift with the day. Elzbieta wants each apple to carry a little happiness, and love, into the place it lands.

The artist
Elzbieta Larsten
Born in Poland in 1968, in Stockholm since 1991. Her first gather of hot glass was at Kosta in Småland in 2008. Since then the apples have travelled to galleries in Stockholm and to Sapporo and Tokyo.
